Men's Crew Takes Three Golds at King's Head Regatta

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple men's crew team competed in the King's Head Regatta over the weekend. The Owls earned three gold medals, while the Temple alumni boat also placed first at the event.

Seniors Charles Anderson and Thomas Robbins kicked off the action, grabbing gold in the pairs event. Anderson also took second in his singles race earlier in the day.

Temple's open four also grabbed a gold medal. The boat was made up of junior Dante Romeo as coxswain, and rowers, seniors Brian Reifsnyder, Evan Hammond, and Bryan Berry, and junior Robert Byrne.

In the club eight event, Romeo again coxed the winning Temple boat. The Owls' crew also included freshmen Stephen Gennaro, Chris Kovach, Nolan Gauthier, Joseph Leyland, Ryan Hartman, Tyler Hartman, Alex James, and Austin Burke.

Temple's alumni boat also nabbed a gold medal. The crew was made up of Matthew Sbei '13, Joe Spencer '06, Dan "Gus" Goettner (staff), Patrick Curran '10, Ferdinand Bergen '01, Patrick Scherbin '93, Brian Perkins '92, Steve Kowalik '88, and Jason Bohot '05.

The Owls are back in action at the Navy Day Regatta on October 10.
