Uneven Bars Leads Gymnastics to 188.45 Finish at Kent State

KENT, OH. – Temple women's gymnastics totaled a 188.45 on Sunday afternoon in its second competition of the season. The Owls fell to the Kent State Golden Flashes who posted a 195.15 in their season opener.
The bar team kicked off the competition and posted the highest total event score of the day. Sophomore Sahara Gipson led the Owls on the event posting a personal-best 9.7 on her routine. Junior Briana Odom and sophomore Kerry Arone scored season-highs of 9.675. Freshman Elizabeth McDuffie made her collegiate debut on the event, earning a 9.65 to help the team to an event total of 47.45.
The Owls saw strong individual performances on vault and floor, with India Anderson leading the team on vault with a season-best 9.65. Gipson closed out the lineup on vault with a 9.6.
The pair also hit solid routines on floor, both earning scores of 9.6. Odom posted an impressive 9.7 that led the event for the Owls for the second week in a row.
Senior All-American on beam, Reagan Oliveri, continued her success from last weekend, hitting the highest beam score for the Owls with a 9.675. Gipson and Breahna Wiczkowski both landed scores of 9.425 for their routines.
Gipson topped her all-around score from last weekend, earning a 38.325 after hitting all four events.
The Owls return to Philadelphia to prepare for two competitions next weekend. They first head to conference rival William and Mary for a dual meet on Friday, Jan. 15 and then take part in the Lindsey Ferris Invitational at George Washington University on Sunday, Jan. 17.
