Track & Field Set to Compete at the Princeton Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – With only three regular-season meets left before the American Athletic Conference Championships, Temple women's track and field is set to compete at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, April 16. The Owls are coming off a restful off-week and will return with athletes competing in 14 different events.
Returning after a battle with injury during the first half of the outdoor season, Blanca Fernandez is set to run in the 800 and 1500-meter races. Also featured in the distance runs will be Katie Pinson who has continued to improve meet after meet. Pinson posted a time of 17:47.66 in the 5000-meter race at the Colonial Relays to place 30th overall. This weekend she will be running in the 1500-meter race, as well as the Steeplechase.
Newcomers Ashton Dunkley, Maya Halprin-Adams, Brigit Andersson, and Alexis O'Shea will participate in either the 800 or 1500-meter races this weekend in hopes of earning top finishes.
10 different Owls will be featured among a variety of sprint and hurdle events. At the Colonial Relays, Crystal Jones, Imani Shell and Simone Chapman all set new personal records in the 400-meter hurdles. Jones led the Owls will a time of 1:02.94 that placed seventh overall. The trio will return to the event, joined by Simone Brownlee, at 2:40 p.m.
Three relay teams are set to run on Saturday, as well. The 4x100-meter relay will include Kenya Gaston, Courtney Mitchell, Aliya Sharp, and Shell. In the 4x400-meter relay, two Temple squads will compete.
The first event of the day will be the long and triple jumps at 11:00 a.m. For live results of the day's meet, click here.
