Josh Brown Suffers Achilles Tendon Injury

5.23.16 | Men's Basketball

PHILADELPHIA – Temple University senior guard Josh Brown suffered an injury to his left achilles tendon on Friday, May 20 and is scheduled to have surgery this Wednesday.   The surgery will be performed by Temple's team physician, Dr. Milo Sewards, at Temple University Hospital.

The Newark, N.J. native was a key player on Temple's 2015-16 NCAA Tournament team, helping lead the Owls to a 21-12 overall record and the American Athletic Conference regular season title.  A starter in 32 of the team's 33 games, the TU point guard led the conference and ranked 10th in the nation with a 3.5 assist/turnover ratio.  He also topped the conference in minutes played (36.2 mpg) and placed second in assists (4.9 apg).

Brown averaged 8.3 points per game, scoring in double figures 14 times, and pulled down 4.8 rebounds per contest.  He tallied a season-best 16 points on seven-for-11 shooting from the floor in the Owls' NCAA Tournament game against Iowa.  His jumper with 2.6 seconds left lifted Temple to a huge 55-53 win at then #23/24 UConn on Jan. 5, 2016.
