Blanca Fernandez Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS – With her combined academic and athletic success in the 2015-16 season, Blanca Fernandez has earned a spot on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team.
 
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, individuals must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or greater as well as meeting athletic standards for either the indoor or outdoor season. Fernandez made her way to the NCAA Outdoor Championship final in the 5,000-meter race to solidify her qualification for the honor.
 
Fernandez is a second-year Master's student studying sports business in the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management.
 
In the overall standings for this year's USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, Minnesota and Stanford each boast 23 individuals on the list. Molly Seidel (Notre Dame), Courntey Frerichs (New Mexico) and Lexi Weeks (Arkansas) are the 2016 DI Female Scholar Athletes of the Year.
