Men's Soccer Snags 4-0 Soccer Six Win Over Drexel

10.3.17 | Men's Soccer

PHILADELPHIA - A 4-0 win over Drexel (2-6-1) on Tuesday brings Temple men's soccer to a 5-5-1 overall record and a 1-1 record in Philly Soccer Six standings. Goals scored by freshman Alan Camacho Soto, sophomore Thibault Candia, and redshirt senior Mark Grasela contributed to the victory at the Temple Sports Complex.

Keys to the Match
>  Within 12 seconds of the opening kick, reigning American Athletic Conference Offensive Player and Rookie of the week Camacho Soto capitalized on a Drexel turnover and fired a shot into the net off the left post. Camacho Soto's fourth goal of the season gave Temple an early lead.
> In the 21st minute, Grasela gave Temple a two-goal lead. Off a corner kick from senior Divin Fula Luzolo, freshman Darri Sigthorsson collected the ball and passed it to Grasela who slid a shot into the net through a clump of players.
> Candia notched his fifth goal of 2017 in the 25th minute with help from junior Hermann Doerner. The sophomore took advantage of an open pocket left by the Dragons' defense.
> The Owls' final goal of the night was scored by Grasela in the 66th minute, earning his third of the season and his career. He was able to find a good shot off a cross from Albert Moreno.

Match Notes
> Temple led Drexel in shots 24-14.
> Drexel goalkeeper Jacob Jordan logged six saves in the match. Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Samnik tallied just three.
> Each team took four corner kicks.

Quotable
> "We've been playing very well over our last five games and have won our last three. Alan scored early for us tonight which really gave us a momentum for the rest of the game. Tonight's game proved that we have a depth to our team. We substituted a lot tonight and had no drop off when we brought guys in off the bench. It shows that we are really focused now at this point in the season. We're in a good spot to move forward." - Head coach David MacWilliams
