PHILADELPHIA – Temple University men's basketball head coach Fran Dunphy announced today that redshirt senior guard Josh Brown and senior forward Obi Enechionyia have been named the captains for the 2017-18 season.

"Josh and Obi are both very deserving of this honor," said Dunphy. "They are two tremendous young men who have contributed both on and off the court throughout their careers.  Their leadership will be invaluable to the success of this year's team."

Brown, who missed most of last season due to an Achilles injury, served as a co-captain of the 2016-17 Owls along with Daniel Dingle and Mark Williams.  The 6-3 point guard, who has played in 106 games, was ranked 10th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.5) while leading the Owls and ranking second in the conference in assists per game (4.9 apg).

A 6-10 forward, Enechionyia started all 32 games last season, ranking second on the team in scoring (13.1 ppg) while leading the team in rebounding (5.8 rpg).  Named MVP of the 2016 NIT Season Tip-Off, he is just 48 points shy of 1,000 for his career while his 124 blocked shots rank eighth in school history.

Temple hosts Jefferson in an exhibition game on Nov. 9 (7:30 p.m.) at the Liacouras Center before starting the season for real the following week at the Gildan Charleston Classic (Nov. 16-19).
