Shizz Alston, Jr. Named Big 5 Player of the Week; Also to AAC Weekly Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - After a 2-0 week for Temple men's basketball, junior guard Shizz Alston, Jr. has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Men's Basketball Player of the Week, and was also named to the American Athletic Conference's Weekly Honor Roll.Â
Alston averaged 21 points, three rebounds and 2.5 assists for the week. He shot 14-of-30 from the field (46.7 percent), 7-of-12 from three-point range (58.5 percent) and 7-of-8 from the free throw line (87.5 percent). He led Temple in scoring in both games, putting up 22 points in a 59-55 win vs. Wisconsin, and 20 points in an 81-78 win vs. Saint Joseph's.
With his 4-of-4 free throws in the closing minutes of Wisconsin (6-of-6 overall in the game), Alston sealed the win and broke the school record for consecutive free throws made (50-for-50). His nation's-leading active streak ended at 52 in the SJU win.
Next up for Temple is a Big 5 contest vs. #4/4 Villanova on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. (ESPN2 /1210 AM WPHT).
