Shizz Alston, Jr. Named to American Athletic Conference Honor Roll

2.27.17 | Men's Basketball

PHILADELPHIA - Temple sophomore Shizz Alston, Jr. is one of five players named to the American Athletic Conference's Honor Roll for the week ending February 26.

Alston averaged 20 points, six rebounds, four assists and 1.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week for the Owls.  The Philadelphia native scored 15 points in the team's 71-69 loss to UCF on Feb. 22 before exploding for a game-high 25 points to lead the Cherry and White to a thrilling 86-76 double-overtime win over Tulane on Feb. 25.

The Owls' leading scorer on the season (14.0 ppg.) scored 11 of his 25 points in the second extra frame against the Green Wave. He made 10-of-10 from the foul line, including eight in the final 85 seconds to ice the win.  He now has made 28 straight from the charity stripe, the longest streak by a Temple player since Khalif Wyatt hit 32 consecutive free throws in 2013.

Temple (15-15, 6-11) closes out its regular season at USF (7-20, 1-15) Sunday (2:00 pm/ESPNU/1210 AM WPHT).
