AIKEN, S.C. - Temple Golf opened the spring portion of its season Monday at The Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate. The Owls finished the 36-hole day on the 6,617-yard, par-70 Palmetto Golf Club in 16th place in the 18-team field.

Sophomore Trey Wren led the Owls with a seven-over 147 with rounds of 75 and 72 on the day to tie for 49th overall in the 90-golfer field. Redshirt sophomore John Barone was one-stroke back with a 148 (70-78, t-54th) with junior Mark Farley posting consecutive rounds of 76 to tie for 73rd at 152. Redshirt freshman Erik Reisner (83-75, 158) and sophomore Sam Soeth (79-82, 161) rounded out the five-man Temple contingent.

Virginia leads the field with a 543 (-17) with the Cavaliers Derek Bard (69-65, 134) tied for the lead at six-under with Clemson's Doc Redman (65-69, 134).

The tournament concludes Tuesday.
