Women's Gymnastics to Face ECAC Rival WIlliam and Mary on the Road

PHILADELPHIA – Following up an ECAC rival win this past weekend, Temple women's gymnastics returns to action with another conference dual meet at William and Mary on Friday inside the Kaplan Arena. The 7:00 p.m. meet will feature a head-to-head battle before ECAC conference championships next weekend.
The Owls gaining a big win on the road came with another impressive final team score of 193.4 to Cornell's 191.375. Now holding the top eight team scores of all time, the Owls are looking to continue their momentum as they head into their final meets of the season.
Leading the way on Saturday was sophomore captain Breahna Wiczkowski who notched a career-high and the individual event title on beam. Her 9.925 beam performance led the beam lineup and stands as the first beam score of 9.9 or higher since 2004. Her impressive score also led her to her first ECAC weekly honor with a Specialist of the Week nod.
The Owls were able to notch first place finishes on vault with Sahara Gipson and Aya Mahgoub's pair of 9.7's. Both gymnasts are currently in the hunt for regional contention with Gipson's RQS score of 9.785 and Mahgoub's RQS score of 9.79. They currently hold the top two rankings in the conference.
The bar team continued its consistency with a 48.475 led by a pair of 9.725's from Alexa Phillip and Reagan Oliveri. Kerry Arone added a 9.7 mark to continue her consistency in the lineup.
Floor proved to be the best event for the Owls on Saturday. Senior captain Briana Odom gained an individual first place finish for herself as she led the way in the anchor position with a 9.8.
The Owls remain in the top spot in the ECAC with an RQS of 193.880. The hosting William and Mary Tribe sit in the sixth positon with a 192.405. The Tribe has posted a team high of 193.025 so far in 2017.
While Temple holds the top spot on vault and bars among all conference teams, William and Mary ranks second on vault to the dominating Owls. Individually, Olivia O'Connor sits right behind Temple's Daisy Todd in the all-around with an RQS score of 38.610. Temple's Todd holds a RQS score of 38.755.
In their last outing, William and Mary were edged out by UNC 192.875- 194.075. The Owls and Tribe last met during Maryland's Five-Team meet this season where they topped the Tribe 194.9- 191.050.
