Women's Track & Field Set for 123rd Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA –Temple women's track and field is set to compete at the 123rd annual Penn Relays beginning tomorrow, April 27. Owls will be featured in multiple events on Thursday and Friday, looking to advance through the relay heats into championship races.
Crystal Jones will be the first Owl to compete, participating in the high jump on Thursday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. Last year, Jones finished eighth overall in the event with a mark of 1.67 meters.
Overall, Temple will be represented in four individual and four relay events across two days of competition, pending a show on Saturday. Owlsports.com and Temple track and field's twitter account (@OwlsXCTnF) will keep up to date schedules in regards to championship advancements and results.
Last season at the Penn Relays, the 4x100 –meter relay team qualified for the ECAC Championship Run. Temple finished the three-day event with a new school record in the 4x100-meter shuttle hurdles. Although the squad will not run a 4x400-meter relay or 4x100-meter shuttle hurdle team this year, Temple will be represented in the 4x200-meter relay, the 4x1500-meter relay, as well as the distance and sprint medleys.
As for other individual events, senior Jimmia McCluskey will be featured in the long jump, Sydnee Jacques and Simone Chapman will take the triple jump, and Katie Leisher will run the highly anticipated 5K race.
