PHILADELPHIA -- In their final race day before the American Athletic Conference Championships, the Temple women's rowing team hosted Navy and West Virginia in a double dual on the Schuylkill River. The Owls came away with four victories in the two sessions of racing.

Against West Virginia, Temple grabbed wins in each of the varsity eight races (V8, 2V, 3V), while also winning the varsity four.

Temple's top boat grabbed an eight second win over WVU, topping the Mountaineers, 7:12.63 to 7:20.89. In the second varsity eight race, Temple's margin grew to 15 seconds, 7:15.86 to 7:30.85. The third varsity again extended that margin, winning 7:58.40 to 8:15.09.

The Owls split fours races with West Virginia, taking the varsity four 8:01.43 to 8:18.74, but falling 8:11.46 to 8:25.13 in the 2V4 race.

Against a talented Navy team, Temple fell short in each match-up, with both the varsity eight and second varsity eight under 10 seconds off the pace of the Midshipmen.

Temple next races on Saturday, May 13 at the 2017 American Athletic Conference Rowing Championships. The event will be held at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida.
