Final Four Participant South Carolina Added to Men’s Basketball Schedule
9.14.17 | Men's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA - The Temple men's basketball non-conference schedule, arguably one of the toughest in program history, got even tougher today with the addition of 2017 NCAA Final Four participant South Carolina.
The Owls and Gamecocks will meet in the Under Armour Reunion at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 30. Tip time and TV will be announced at a later date.
"We are excited to not only add another high-level program in South Carolina to our schedule, but to again play in one of the most historic arenas in the country – Madison Square Garden," said Temple head coach Fran Dunphy. "This should be a tremendous game for college basketball fans and I want to thank Under Armour for including Temple in this event."
South Carolina, which made its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Final Four last season, makes it three teams on Temple's 2017-18 non-conference schedule that appeared in a Final Four over the last four seasons. The Owls host Wisconsin, which appeared in both the 2014 and 2015 Final Fours, in their home opener on Dec. 6 and a week later host 2016 NCAA National Champion Villanova (Dec. 13).
Temple's non-conference slate also features another 2017 NCAA Tournament participant in Dayton as well as Clemson and Georgia that participated in the NIT last year.
The Owls return a trio of double figure scorers in junior guard Shizz Alston, Jr. (13.9 ppg, 131 assists), senior forward Obi Enechionyia (13.1 ppg, 5.8 rpg) and sophomore guard Quinton Rose (10.1 ppg) from last year's 16-16 squad. Redshirt senior point guard Josh Brown is also back after sitting out last year due to an Achilles injury.
Temple Men's Basketball season tickets will go on sale later this month. To connect with a Temple Athletics ticket sales representative, please call 215-204-TIXX.
