PHILADELPHIA – The American Athletic Conference released its men's basketball schedule for 2017-18 with Temple opening its 18-game league slate at the Liacouras Center against Tulane on Dec. 28.

Temple will appear on national television at least 26 times during the season, including 19 appearances on ESPN entities.

"The American Athletic Conference is clearly one of the top basketball leagues in the country and with the addition this year of Wichita State it is makes for an even a more challenging slate of games," said Temple head coach Fran Dunphy.  "We are excited about the upcoming season and competing against some of the nation's top programs."

Following the conference opener with the Green Wave, the Owls travel to Houston two days later (Dec. 30) to take on a Cougar squad that advanced to the NIT last season.  Temple then kicks off the new year with 2017 NCAA Tournament participant Cincinnati on Jan. 4 before embarking on a two-game road trip to NIT semifinalist UCF (Jan. 7) and 2017 NCAA Tournament participant SMU (Jan. 10).

The Owls return to the Liacouras Center for a two-game homestand taking on Memphis (Jan. 13) and Tulsa (Jan. 17) before traveling to The Palestra for their final non-conference game against Penn (Jan. 20).

With Cincinnati's Fifth Third Arena undergoing renovations the Owls will play the Bearcats at Northern Kentucky's BB&T Arena on January 24.  Temple then returns home for games against UConn (Jan. 28) and new conference member Wichita State (Feb. 1).  The Shockers have advanced to the last six NCAA Tournaments and are projected by many as a Top 10 team this year.

Temple then heads to the Big Easy to take on Tulane (Feb. 4) before returning home to host ECU (Feb. 7).

The Owls play four of their final six conference games on the road starting with trips to USF (Feb. 10) and Wichita State (Feb. 15).  A two-game stretch at the Liacouras Center featuring Houston (Feb. 18) and UCF (Feb. 25) ends TU's 13-game home schedule while road games to UConn (Feb. 28) and Tulsa (Mar. 4) wrap up regular season play.

The 2018 American Athletic Conference Championship will be held at the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla. from March 8-11.
