PROVIDENCE, R.I. - After a breakout performance for Temple against Memphis, men's basketball freshman guard Nate Pierre-Louis has been named the American Athletic Conference's Rookie of the Week. He is just the third Owl to ever earn the AAC Rookie of the Week honor after Quinton Rose won it four times and Obi Enechionyia did so once.
Pierre-Louis scored a career-high 23 points against Memphis, hitting 9-of-17 from the field including three buckets from long range. He led all players with three steals, recorded one block, and pulled down five boards.
Earlier in the week in the Owls' win at SMU, Pierre-Louis grabbed a career-high seven rebounds and scored five points in 18 minutes of action. For the week, he ranked second on the team with 14 points per game, shot 47.8 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range.
The Owls are back in action at home on Wednesday, Jan. 17 against Tulsa at 6 p.m. (ESPNews / 1210 AM WPHT).
