Jensen Named AAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week
10.16.18 | Men's Cross Country
PHILADELPHIA -- Sophomore Kristian Jensen was named Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week by the American Athletic Conference on Oct. 16th for his outstanding efforts at the Princeton Invitational. The accolades are the first of the Esbjerg, Denmark native's career, and mark the second time this season the award went to a Temple runner.
The men's cross country squad put on a strong showing at the Princeton Invitational on Friday, Oct.12 to wrap up their regular-season competition, conquering an 8,000-meter course through the West Windsor Fields in New Jersey. Jensen crossed the finish line first for the Cherry and White with a time of 24:08.7, earning him a fourth place finish in the field. He led the Owls to finish third overall out of 20 teams, competing in a field that consisted of multiple regionally ranked opponents. Jensen's top five finish was indicative of his talent and the training he has put in this season, earning him the number one spot for the Owls for the first time this season. His time also marks one of the fastest in program history, as each 8K weighs differently on varying courses.Â
Up next, the Owls head to New Orleans to compete in the American Athletic Conference Championships on Thursday, Oct. 25. The AAC runners will race the 8,000-meter course at The Golf Club at Audubon Park, and are set to begin at 10:50 a.m. CT.
