Volleyball Heads to Tulane and Memphis this Weekend

PHILADELPHIA --Â The Temple volleyball team has it's last full road trip of the season this weekend, traveling to Tulane and Memphis. The Owls will play at the Green Wave on Friday at 8:00 p.m. EST and at the Tigers on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST.
THE OWLS
> Temple is 5-20 overall with a 2-11 mark in the American Athletic Conference.
> Last time out, the Owls fell in a pair of home matches to USF and UCF, both by 3-1 scores.Â
> On Friday, Temple won the first set against USF 25-22, but fell in the final three, 25-13, 25-20, 25-21.Â
> On Sunday, the Owls played tough against #23 UCF, but came up short, as the Knights won 25-14, 25-20, 17-25, 31-29.Â
> Temple's offense is bunched with five players averaging better than 2.00 kills per set, led by junior Dana Westfield's 2.34 kills per set.
> Sophomore Katerina Papazoglou adds 2.31 kills per frame and also chips in to held the defense with 2.94 digs per set.
> Graduate student Irem Asci adds 2.25 kills and 2.95 digs per set, with freshman Miray Bolukbasi chipping in with 2.24 kills per set.
> Freshman Tyler Lindgren leads Temple with 5.67 assists per set, while senior Hannah Vandegrift adds 5.29 assists per set.
> Senior Mia Heirakuji leads the defense with 4.12 digs per frame.
> As a team, Temple hits .187, with opponents hitting .237 against the Owls.
SCOUTING TULANE
> Tulane is 21-7 overall with a 9-4 mark in conference play.
> The Green Wave have a balanced attack, with seven players averaging between 1.90 and 2.75 kills per set.
> Erika Hansel leads the pack with 2.73 kills per frame, while Lexie Douglas adds 2.52 per set.
> Makala Heidelberg averages 2.22 kills and 3.86 digs per set.
> Taylor Henigsman and Jenna Ibieta split the setting duties with Henigsman averaging 5.86 assists per set and Ibieta adding 5.08 per frame.
