Gymnastics Sweeps Quad Meet at Penn with a 194.70

PHILADELPHIA – Sunday's rain did not put a damper on Temple gymnastics' day. At Penn's quad meet hosted at the Palestra, the Owls topped Bridgeport (194.225), Penn (193.725), and Ursinus (186.900) with a 194.70. Senior co-captain Sahara Gipson earned the individual title on vault with two Owls earning the No. 2 and 3 spots.
Beam
The Owls kicked off Sunday's quad meet on the balance beam, scoring a total 48.425. Junior co-captain Breahna Wiczkowski led Temple with a beam score of 9.750 to place fourth. Sophomore Kerra Masella and freshman Monica Servidio were the squad's next best scorers with a pair of 9.700's.
Floor
In the floor exercise, Temple posted a 49.050, its second highest team floor score in program history. Five Owls scored a 9.800 or above at the Palestra with freshman Tori Edwards hitting a 9.850 to tie her career high, placing sixth overall. Freshmen Madison Rennix, Jordyn Oster, and Servidio each posted career-high 9.800's on the day. Sophomore Jaylene Everett also earned a 9.800 for her performance.
Vault
Up next for Temple was the vault where the Owls posted a 48.725. Gipson was the Owls' top finisher in the event, snagging the individual vault title with a 9.850. Everett earned the silver with a 9.825. Edwards' score of 9.750 tied for third overall with Bridgeport's Kelsey Campbell.
Bars
The Owls closed out Sunday's quad meet at the uneven bars where the squad posted a 48.500 team score. Servidio and sophomore Daisy Todd were Temple's top scorers in with a pair of 9.750's, the third highest score of the afternoon.
All Around
In just her second time competing all four events, Servidio's solid scores on beam (9.700), floor (9.800), vault (9.725), and bars (9.750) tallied a 38.975 to take first all around out of four gymnasts.
Up Next
The Owls will host Bridgeport, Ursinus, and West Chester for the Ken Anderson Invitational on Saturday Feb. 17 at 1 p.m.
