Gymnastics Makes History with Program Best 196.05 on Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA – For the second time in two days, Temple gymnastics has set a new program record. After surpassing a 195 in its tri-meet against Maryland and Penn, Temple posted a 196.05 on Sunday to place second against Eastern Michigan, Lindenwood, and Rutgers. Lindenwood took first place with a score of 196.400. Eastern Michigan came in third with a 195.725 followed by Rutgers in fourth (184.500).

> Temple's 196.05 is the first score over 196 in program history.
> Sunday's floor score of 49.300 topped Friday's 49.150, making the top of the program best floor exercise score list.
> Sophomore Jaylene Everett posted a 9.925 on floor. Everett is just the second Owl in program history to earn a 9.925 for a floor exercise routine and the first since 2002.
> Freshman Tori Edwards collected the best all-around score of the afternoon with a career-best 39.125.
Vault
> Temple started the afternoon strong, pulling a 49.05 vault score.
> Senior co-captain Sahara Gipson was the squad's top scorer with a 9.875 to match her career-best, tying for first overall with Lindenwood's Kiersten Sokolowski.
> Both Everett and freshman Tori Edwards hit their routines with scores over a 9.8 as well. Everett tied for third with a 9.85. Edwards followed with a 9.825.
Bars
> The Owls tallied a 48.65 led by senior Alexa Phillip and sophomore Daisy Todd with a pair of season-best 9.825's.
> Senior Kerry Arone and Edwards contributed a 9.775 and a 9.7, respectively.
Beam
>Temple continued momentum on the balance beam, pulling a 49.05.
> Todd and junior co-captain Breahna Wiczkwoski each scored a 9.825 as the Owls' top scorers. The score was a career-high for Todd.
> Sophomore Kerra Masella, freshman Delaney Garin, and Edwards all hit routines worthy of a 9.8 to contribute to Temple's overall score.
Floor
> The Owls showed stellar performances on the floor exercise, all earning a 9.8 or higher to reach the best floor score in program history.
> Everett led the Owls with a career-high 9.925 to capture the individual title.
> In her last routine in McGonigle Hall, Gipson posted a career-high 9.875 to tie for second.
> Freshmen Madison Rennix and Jordyn Oster each scored career-best 9.825's.
> Junior India Anderson matched Friday's career-high with a 9.85.
