Gymnastics Hosts Penn and Maryland on Friday, Honors Five Seniors on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple gymnastics will host its final two home meets of the season this weekend on Friday, Mar. 9 and Sunday, Mar. 11. On Friday, Temple's tri-meet will feature ECAC opponent Penn and Maryland. On Sunday, the Owls will play host to Rutgers, Eastern Michigan, and Lindenwood, highlighting the squad's five seniors for Temple's Senior Day recognition.
Girl Scout Meet
> Temple gymnastics would like to welcome all Girl Scout Troops in the greater Philadelphia area to Friday's meet against Penn and Maryland. The Owls admire your leadership and dedication to your communities.
Senior Day Honorees
> Kerry Arone, Gianna Gambuti, Sahara Gipson, Kayla Kennedy, and Alexa Phillip will be all be honored in a special ceremony on Sunday following the day's final routine.
Autograph Signing
> Temple gymnastics will be signing autographs at the conclusion of both meets this weekend. Team posters will be provided.
Last Time Out
> The Owls posted a 194.250 at Pittsburgh on Mar. 4.
> On vault, Temple registered a 48.975 led by Gipson and sophomore Daisy Todd with a pair of 9.825's.
Scouting the Owls
> Temple remains at No. 1 in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and fifth in the North East region with a team RQS of 194.365. The Owls head into the weekend of competition with a 15-8 record.
> The Owls rank fourth in the region on the floor exercise with an RQS of 48.830.
> Gipson holds the Owls' top RQS on vault with a 9.790. Freshman Tori Edwards' RQS leads on bars and floor with a 9.755 and a 9.830, respectively. Delaney Garin leads on beam with an RQS of 9.735.
Scouting the Quakers
> Friday will be the second time Temple will face the Quakers in 2018.
> Penn heads into the weekend with an RQS of 192.595 and a 4-10 record.
> On Mar. 2 at Maryland, the Quakers tallied a 192.175 to placed third in the Terrapin's tri-meet.
> Kyra Levi leads the squad on bars with an RQS of 9.81, Caroline Moore leads on beam with a 9.745, Alex Hartke leads on the balance beam with a 9.795, and Ally Podsednik leads on vault with a 9.705.
Scouting the Terrapins
> Maryland ranks eighth in the Big Ten and 33rd in the nation with a team RQS of 195.540 and a 12-7 record.
> Audrey Barber leads the Terrapins on vault, bars, beam and the all-around with RQS of 9.82, 9.865, 9.82, and 39.150, respectively. Alecia Farina has the top floor exercise

Scouting the Scarlet Knights
> Rutgers enters Sunday's meet with an RQS of 194.205 ranked sixth in the North East region.
> At George Washington on Mar. 4, the Scarlet Knights registered a 193.550 to place fourth in the quad meet.
> Makenzey Shank leads Rutgers on beam and bars RQS's of 9.855 and 9.750, respectively. The squad's best floor RQS comes from Jenna Rizkalla with a 9.835. Toni Williams holds the top vault RQS with a 9.770.
Scouting the Eagles
> Eastern Michigan enters the weekend of competition with a team RQS of 194.585 and ranks 11th in the Central region.
> At Ball State on Mar. 4, the Eagles posted a 194.225 to top the Cardinals. Eastern Michigan grabbed three out of four event titles courtesy of Kendall Valentin (Bars and beam), Megan Marino (beam), and Jada Rondeau (floor).
> Valentin leads the Eagles on bars and beam with RQS's of 9.830 and 9.815, respectively. On floor, Emili Dobronics leads with an RQS of 9.835. On Vault, Megan Hultgren leads with a 9.765 RQS.

> Lindenwood holds an RQS of 194.360 and ranks ninth in the South Central region.
> At Illinois on Mar. 4, the Lions posted a 195.625 to win the tri-meet. Keirsten Sokolowski earned the individual floor title with a 9.875.
> Sokolowski leads the team on bars and beam with RQS's of 9.820 and 9.805, respectively. On bars and floor, Ryan Henry leads with a 9.8 and a 9.765 RQS.
