Quinton Rose Named to Philadelphia Big 5 Second Team

PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore Quinton Rose has been named to the 2018 Philadelphia Big 5 Second Team for men's basketball after an impressive second season with the Owls in which he led the team in scoring with 14.9 points per game.

Rose, also a 2018 American Athletic Conference Honorable Mention selection, ranked seventh in the AAC in scoring and sixth with 1.5 steals per game. Rose played in all 33 games with 32 starts, and scored 20 or more points in nine games with 19-point efforts in two other contests. In his best showing of the season, Rose scored a career-high 27 points against NCAA Champion and Big 5 Champion Villanova, hitting 5-of-6 three-pointers.

The Owls went 2-2 in Big 5 play in 2017-18, while Villanova captured the city series title with its fifth consecutive 4-0 record. 

The Wildcats earned four of five first-team spots, and earned all of the Big 5 major awards. Coach of the Year went to Jay Wright, Player of the Year and Scholar Athlete of the Year to Jalen Brunson, Rookie of the Year to Omari Spellman and Most Improved to Eric Paschall.
