Men’s Basketball Announces 2018-19 Non-Conference Schedule

PHILADELPHIA – A first-ever visit to the Liacouras Center by the Georgia Bulldogs and a trip to Missouri highlight the Temple men's basketball 2018-19 non-conference schedule, released today.
The Owls will also play six home games in the Liacouras Center, starting with a Nov. 6 contest against Big 5 rival La Salle. Temple was the last team to open its season in 2017-18, but its matchup with the Explorers occurs on the first day of this college basketball season and will be the earliest a Temple team has ever begun a campaign.
"This schedule will again provide many challenges," said Temple head coach Fran Dunphy. "It includes home dates with Georgia and UMass as well as Big 5 rivals La Salle and Penn. There are trips to Brooklyn for the Legends Classic and to Atlantic City for the Basketball Hall of Fame Boardwalk Classic against Davidson. We also have Big 5 road games against Villanova and St. Joe's and a city clash against Drexel at The Palestra."
Following the opener against La Salle, the Owls have two home Legends Classic games against Detroit Mercy (Nov. 9) and Loyola-Maryland (Nov. 16) with the Georgia contest sandwiched in between on Nov. 13.
Temple then travels to the Barclays Center for the semifinals and championships of the Legends Classic. The Owls will play VCU on Nov. 19 and then take on either St. John's or California the following day.
The Owls make their first trip to Missouri in 36 years on Nov. 27 when they take on the Tigers to start a home-and-home series with the SEC foe. Missouri will return the game in 2020-21, marking its first trip to Philadelphia to play Temple.
December opens with trips to St. Joe's (Dec. 1) and Villanova (Dec. 5) before hosting UMass on Dec. 12. The Owls then travel to Atlantic City to play Davidson for the first time since Dec. 19, 1967. Another city rivalry game occurs before the holiday break with a date against the Drexel Dragons at The Palestra on Dec. 22.
The remaining non-conference game will be at the Liacouras Center against Penn on Jan. 19.
Deposits for season tickets can be made by calling the Temple University Athletics Ticket Office at 215-204-TIXX with "select" locations going on sale July 25.
The American Athletic Conference dates are expected to be announced in August.
