Men's Crew Opens Fall Racing with Sweep at Lehigh

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple men's crew team opened the fall racing season with a four-boat sweep at the second annual Lehigh Invitational.
Sweeping Success
> Temple entered four boats into the event, held on a 3,500-meter course on Lake Nockamixon.
> Six boats crossed the finish line with the Owls' sweeping the top four spots.
> Temple raced mixed line-ups, competing with two heavyweight boats and two lightweight boats.
Temple Times
> The Owls' heavyweight boat, coxed by senior Evan Funchion, led the pack, finishing in 9:29.58, with freshman Djoume Traore as the stroke seat.
> A split second later, Temple's second heavyweight boat crossed the line, as the Stephen Gennaro-stroked boat with junior Cassidy Lorenz as cox, finished in 9:30.01.
> Temple's lightweight boats were equally as impressive at the event, finishing third and fourth in 9:31.3 and 9:34.0.
> The lightweight A boat was stroked by rookie Hunter Mnich with senior coxswain Caseyann Sweeney.Â
> The lightweight B boat had senior Austin Burke as stroke and sophomore Nina Sponheimer as the coxswain.
