Franke Announces 2019-20 Fencing Schedule

PHILADELPHIA- As the 2019-20 season edges closer, head fencing coach Dr. Nikki Franke announced the team's upcoming schedule Tuesday morning. The schedule is highlighted by two home meets, two cross-town meets, and four 2020 Olympic Games qualifiers.Â

The Owls will open the season at home, hosting the 40th Annual Temple Fencing Open from Nov. 2-3. The team will then gear up for the November North American Cup (Nov. 8-11) before returning to Philadelphia for the Elite Meet at Penn (Nov. 16).
Temple will remain in the Quaker State for the Penn State Open on Nov. 23 before December competition at the December North American Cup (Dec. 6-9) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The team will get a month-long break from competition following the Sacred Heart Invitational (Dec. 8), opening the new year at the January North American Cup (Jan. 3-6) in Charlotte, N.C.
The Owls will close out road collegiate play in February, competing at the Northwestern Multi Meet from Feb. 1-2 before heading to Durham, N.C. for the Duke Invitational (Feb. 9). The Junior Olympics from Feb. 14-17 will be the final domestic opportunity for the Owls to qualify for international competition, before wrapping up the regular season at home with the Temple Invitational (Feb. 23).
Three meets await Temple in the post-season, with the NIWFA Championships to be held in Madison, N.J. on Feb. 29 before NCAA Championship competition in March.
