Women’s Basketball Hosts Xavier at Liacouras on Thursday

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball plays at the Liacouras Center for the first time this season as they welcome Xavier University on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.
THE OWLS
> Temple enters their fourth game of the season with an overall record of 2-1. The Owls opened up their first week of action with a pair of wins at home over Fairfield and Duquesne before falling to Big 5 rival St. Joseph's on the road.
> Mia Davis recorded a double-double in the first two games before she recorded a season-high 29 points against SJU. The junior captain leads the Owls with 24.6 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game.
> Redshirt sophomore Ashley Jones leads Temple with 18 assists on the year to average 6.0 per game. Jones dished out a career-high nine assists in the Owls' 85-72 win over Duquesne. The Philadelphia native also holds a team-best free throw percentage, shooting 85.7% from the line.
> Freshman Asonah Alexander trails right behind Jones in the assist column, totaling 16 thus far. Alexander averages 5.3 assists, 2.7 points and 2.0 steals per game.
> Marissa Mackins has knocked down 11 shots from beyond the arc to lead Temple in the opening three contests. Her 40.7% three-point shooting percentage ranks first for the Owls as the sophomore averages 14.7 points per game.
> Alexa Williamson averages 6.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game to add to Temple's post presence. The 6' 1" sophomore adds four steals and two blocks to her stat sheet.
> The Owls head into their third game outshooting their opponents 41.5% to 37.7% from the field.
LAST TIME OUT: St. Joseph's 67, Temple 63
> Temple outshot the Hawks 25-15 in the second quarter and 21-20 in the fourth quarter. However, St. Joseph's finished with a 38.8% field goal percentage and held the Owls to 31.7% from the floor.
> The Hawks saw four players collect double-digit points with three connecting from long-range.
> St. Joe's held a slight 38-37 edge on the boards.

> In coach Melanie Moore's first game at the helm of the Xavier women's basketball program, the Musketeers topped Utah 70-63 at home.
> A'riana Gray led Xavier with a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds. Teammate Aaliyah Dunham led all players with her 16-point performance.
> The Musketeers held the edge on the boards, out-rebounding the Utes 44-36.
> Despite only shooting 59.1% from the foul line, Xavier made up for it by shooting 36.8% percent from both the field and three-point range.
TEMPLE VS. XAVIER
> Xavier holds a 14-11 advantage in the all-time series against the Owls. However, under coach Cardoza, Temple has gone 4-3 against the Musketeers.
