Women’s Basketball to Play at Bucknell Wednesday Evening

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team heads to central Pennsylvania to play Bucknell on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion.

THE OWLS
> Temple arrives in Lewisburg, Pa. with an overall record of 3-2 and a conference record of 0-1. 
> The Owls dropped their first conference matchup of the season to defending American champions No. 4 UConn (83-54).
> Mia Davis became the 25th Temple women's basketball player to reach the 1,000-point mark with her 18-point effort against UConn. The junior leads the Owls with 21.8 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.  
> Davis earned American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the second-straight week after finishing a three-game stretch averaging 21.6 points per game. 
> Ashley Jones leads Temple in the assist column with 28 to average 5.6 a game. Jones adds 16.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
> Sophomore Marissa Mackins is tied for first in the conference with 16 made three-pointers on the year. Mackins averages 3.2 threes a game and posts a 36.4% three-point shooting percentage. 
> Freshmen Asonah Alexander and Rayniah Walker have adjusted quickly to collegiate basketball. Alexander trails Jones in assists, dishing out 20 so far this season. Walker made big three-pointers down the stretch in Temple's 78-65 win over Xavier to help the Owls walk away with the win. 

LAST TIME OUT: No. 4 UConn 83, Temple 54
> The hot-shooting Huskies led by 11 after one, and pushed it to a 16-point edge at the half.
> Temple rallied to close the gap to 10 with a 15-11 third quarter, but UConn put the Owls away with a 26-9 advantage in the fourth.
> UConn shot 49.2% from the field and 36.4% from three, as Temple was held to 34.4% from the field and just 26.9% from three.
> The Huskies held a 40-32 edge on the glass and led 36-16 in points in the paint.
> Junior Mia Davis became the 25th Temple women's basketball player to reach the 1,000-point mark, finishing the game with 18 points
> Freshman Asonah Alexander was the only other Owl in double figures in scoring with 11 points.
> Redshirt sophomore Ashley Jones finished with a team-best nine rebounds, adding nine points, while sophomore Marissa Mackins chipped in with eight points.

SCOUTING BUCKNELL
> Bucknell enters the contest with a 2-2 record to start the season, defeating Monmouth and St. Bonaventure while falling to Virginia and Quinnipiac. 
> Ellie Mack leads the Bison with 19.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. The forward posts a 55.4% shooting percentage.
> Abby Kapp has knocked down a team-high 10 shots from beyond the arc to register a 43.5% three-point shooting percentage. Kapp is one of three Bison to average double-digit points, recording 10.5 points per game.
> Guard Marly Walls leads Bucknell in both assists and steals with 13 and nine, respectively. 
> Ally Johnson currently averages 12.3 points per game and a team-best 85.7% from the free throw line, only missing two foul shots thus far. 
> Head coach Trevor Woodruff is in his first year at the helm of the program following a four-year stint as the head women's basketball coach at Division III program University of Scranton. Woodruff compiled a 113-10 record and four-straight conference championships during his time with the Lady Royals. 

TEMPLE VS. BUCKNELL
> Despite residing in the same state, Bucknell and Temple have not played one another in over 26 years. 
> The Owls are 1-0 in the all-time series against the Bison, defeating them 67-53 in Miami, Fla. on Jan. 3, 1993. 

LAST TIME THEY MET
> The two teams met for the first (and last) time at the Sun & Fun Invitational at Golden Panther Arena in Miami, Fla.
> Temple took advantage of Bucknell's poor shooting to take a 14-point win in the second round of the tournament.
> Margarete Rougier led Temple with a double-double of 21 points and 17 rebounds. Jennifer Linthicum added 11 points in the Owls' win.
> The Bison shot just 30.3% from the field while Temple registered a 43.8% shooting percentage. 
> Joy Sandler led Bucknell with 15 points while Monica Nawarskas added 12.
> Temple held the edge on the boards, 47-38.
