Gymnastics Posts a Season-High 194.950 at Ken Anderson Invitational

PHILADELPHIA—Temple women's gymnastics (8-11, 1-1 ECAC) scored a season-high 194.950 Friday night at the Ken Anderson Invitational. The Owls placed second, as Bridgeport took first with a 195.350 and Ursinus earned third with 183.300. The squad won on vault and floor, posting season-best scores on each event.
Vault
> Temple started the night off on a high note, scoring a season-high 48.800.
> Sophomore Monica Servidio and junior Jazmyn Estrella were strong through the middle of the lineup for the Owls, earning a 9.7 and 9.75, respectively.
> Junior Jaylene Everett tied for second on vault with a season-best 9.825.
> Freshman Ariana Castrence earned the title in the event, posting a career-best 9.85.
Bars
> The Owls recorded a 48.425 on their second event of the night.
> Sophomore Tori Edwards was stellar on bars, tying her season-best with a 9.775.
> Servidio tied her career-best with a 9.75 and Estrella anchored the lineup with a 9.775.
Beam
> The squad competed on beam in the third rotation, scoring a 48.65.
> Sophomores Jordyn Oster and Delaney Garin tied their season-bests, each scoring a 9.75.
> Castrence earned her way on to the podium on beam as well, taking third place with a 9.8.
> Estrella posted a 9.825, tying her career-best and taking second place in the event.
Floor
> Floor was the team's best event of the evening, as Temple scored a season-high 49.075 on the event.
> Freshman Taylor Newland led off the lineup with a career-best 9.725 and sophomore Tori Edwards earned an impressive 9.7.
> Castrence and Servidio both put on outstanding performances. They each scored a 9.825, as Castrence tied her career-best and Servidio set a new career mark.
> Everett and senior India Anderson shined for the Owls, both posting a 9.85 to tie for second place in the event.
All-Around
> Castrence and Servidio competed in the all-around for the Owls. Castrence took second place with a 38.425 and Servidio earned third with a 38.275.
From the Coach
> "The biggest thing that I told the team coming into this meet was that I wanted to see their heart," said head coach Josh Nilson. "I wanted to see how they could come together and that's exactly what I saw tonight. Aside from the scores, which were great, this team is a championship team, and they proved that tonight by showing heart."

> Temple will travel to Ohio State for a tri-meet matchup with the Buckeyes and the West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday, March 2. Competition is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
