Gymnastics Hits the Road for Saturday Tri Meet against Ohio State and West Virginia

PHILADELPHIA— Temple women's gymnastics will travel to Columbus, Ohio to face No. 23 Ohio State and No. 24 West Virginia in a tri meet matchup on Saturday, March 2. The meet is set to begin at 4 p.m.

The Owls
>The Owls are led by head coach Josh Nilson, who is in his first season leading the Cherry and White.
> Last time out, Temple (8-11, 1-1 ECAC) posted a season-high 194.950 on Friday, Feb. 22 at the Ken Anderson Invitational. The Owls placed second, as Bridgeport took first with a 195.350 and Ursinus earned third with a 183.300. The squad won on vault and floor, posting season-best scores on each event.
> The Owls scored a season-best 48.8 on vault last weekend. Sophomore Monica Servidio and junior Jazmyn Estrella were strong through the middle of the lineup for the Owls, earning a 9.7 and 9.75, respectively. Junior Jaylene Everett tied for second on vault with a season-best 9.825 and freshman Ariana Castrence earned the title in the event with a career-best 9.85.
> The team had its best performance of the evening on floor, recording a season-best 49.075. Freshman Taylor Newland led off the lineup with a career-best 9.725 and sophomore Tori Edwards earned an impressive 9.7. Castrence and Servidio both put on outstanding performances. They each scored a 9.825, as Castrence tied her career-best and Servidio set a new career mark. Everett and senior India Anderson shined for the Owls, each posting a 9.85 to tie for second place in the event.
> Jazmyn Estrella earned ECAC Coaches Choice weekly honors for her impressive performance in last weekend's meet. The junior came back from injury and competed on vault, bars and beam for Temple. Her return to the lineup had a significant impact, as she helped the team to a season-high score of 194.950. Estrella posted a 9.75 on vault, tied for the team-high on bars with a 9.775 and tied her career-best on beam with a 9.825.

Scouting Ohio State
> Ohio State is led by head coach Meredith Paulicivic, who is in her second season at the helm of the program.
> Last time out Ohio State competed at the Big Five Meet against No. 8 Michigan, No. 14 Minnesota, Illinois and Rutgers, finishing fifth with a 194.600. The team posted a 48.9 on vault, 49.050 on bars, 47.975 on beam and 48.675 on floor.
> This will be the second meeting between Ohio State and Temple. Ohio State leads the all-time series 1-0, as the Buckeyes defeated the Owls 186.675-183.700 in 1994.
 
Scouting West Virginia
> West Virginia is led by Jason Butts, who is in his eighth season as head coach of the Mountaineers.
> West Virginia last competed on Sunday, Feb. 24 against No. 1 Oklahoma. The Mountaineers fell to the Sooners, 197.15-195.35. The squad scored a 48.575 on vault, 48.975 on bars, 48.75 on beam and 49.1 on floor.
