PHILADELPHIA - For a fifth time in the 2018-19 season, Temple senior guard Shizz Alston, Jr. has earned Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week honors. Alston shares the honor this week with Penn's AJ Brodeur.
The Owls went 1-1 last week with a loss at Memphis and a win over Tulane. Alston scored 22 points in both contests while also averaging 6.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. For his efforts, he was also named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for a sixth time this season.
The Tulane win saw Alston hit two three-pointers, making it a school-record 40 consecutive games in which he has hit at least one shot from long range. He also dished eight assists in the win and became the eighth player in program history to reach 400 career assists (now with 402). His 85 total three-pointers this season rank ninth all-time.
