PHILADELPHIA – Men's basketball coach Aaron McKie announced today that Jake Forrester, who played last season at Indiana University, has signed an athletics aid agreement to attend Temple University. The 6-8, 220-pound forward is the second transfer to sign with the Owls this week. He joins 6-2, 180-pound Wisconsin transfer Tai Strickland, who signed on Monday.
The rising sophomore will have three years of eligibility beginning with the 2020-21 season.
"Jake Forrester is a high level player who we are thrilled to have as part of the Temple Basketball Family," said McKie. "Jake is an athletic big man who plays both ends of the court with intensity. He is also a fine young man who comes from a wonderful family and will fit in well with our culture. We feel he will play a prominent role in the future for our program."
As a freshman at Indiana, Forrester played in 56 minutes over 13 games, averaging 2.1 points and 1.3 rebounds while shooting 54.5 percent from the field. He scored a career-high eight points and added two rebounds and a steal in seven minutes of action against Central Arkansas.
As a high school senior at Westtown (Pa.) High, Forrester was ranked as the #127 recruit by Rivals and #131 by 247Sports. The American Family Insurance ALL-USA Pennsylvania Boys Basketball Second Team honoree averaged 12.2 points and 9.0 rebounds per game while leading Westtown to a 23-10 record and its fifth straight Friends Schools League championship. As a junior, he helped Westtown to a 32-2 record and a Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association (PAISAA) championship while earning first team all-conference accolades.
Forrester joins Strickland as well as incoming freshman Damion Dunn, a 6-4 guard from Meadowcreek (Ga.) High, and Josh Pierre-Louis, a 6-3 guard from Roselle (N.J.) Catholic, in Temple's 2023 recruiting class.
