Shizz Alston, Jr. to Play in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament

PHILADELPHIA - Senior guard Shizz Alston, Jr. has accepted an invitation to compete at the prestigious Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, held at Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Va. April 17-20.
Now in its 67th year of existence, the P.I.T. invites 64 of the best college basketball seniors from across the nation to participate in a four-day, 12-game tournament in front of representatives from every NBA team. Fans can watch live streaming of all games through the event's website – portsmouthinvitational.com.
Alston joins recent Temple players Obi Enechionyia (2018), Will Cummings (2016), Quenton DeCosey (2015), Dalton Pepper (2014), Khalif Wyatt (2013), Juan Fernandez (2012), Ramone Moore (2012) and Lavoy Allen (2011), who competed in the tournament.
Alston had a record-setting senior campaign, earning First Team All-American Athletic Conference and All-Big 5 honors while leading the Owls to a 23-10 record and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. The 6-4 guard led the AAC and Big 5 in scoring (19.7 ppg) and free throw percentage with a school record .908. The Philadelphia native also set a Temple record by making a three-pointer in 44 straight games, becoming the first TU player to make a three in every game during a season. His 651 points rank as the 15th best single season output in Temple history while his 166 assists are ninth best on the Owls' list.
The first Temple player to earn USBWA All-District honors since Wyatt (2012-13), Alston made 99 three-pointers, third best on Temple's all-time list, and became the first Temple player to average five assists per game since Lynn Greer (2000-01). His 5.0 assist average ranked second in the AAC.
