Castrence Breaks All-Around Program Record in Gymnastics’ Win

PHILADELPHIA—Temple gymnastics came out on top in its home opener Pink Meet on Saturday night, posting a 190.675 to defeat Cortland (187.500) and SCSU (185.075). Sophomore Ariana Castrence had an outstanding meet, as she broke the program's all-around record with a 39.275 and took first place in all four events.
Vault
> The Owls has their best rotation of the night on vault, scoring a 48.1 on their first event.
> Temple was solid throughout the lineup. Senior Jaylene Everett had a strong vault, scoring a 9.65 to tie for second place. Anchor Ariana Castrence dazzled with an outstanding vault. The sophomore posted a 9.8 to take first on the event.
Bars
> The Cherry and White competed on bars in the second rotation of the night, scoring a 47.225.
> Junior Tori Edwards stuck her routine to earn a 9.65. Castrence continued her momentum from vault, as she posted a 9.8 to anchor the Owls on bars and earn the event title.
Beam
> Temple continued the evening on beam, recording a 47.475.
> Juniors Jordyn Oster and Delaney Garin were superb for the Owls. Oster scored a 9.725 and Garin anchored the squad with a 9.8 to earn second place.
> Castrence performed an excellent beam routine, earning a 9.825 to take first on the event.
Floor
> The Owls closed out the night on floor, posting a 47.875.
> Everett and Edwards put on strong performances on floor, scoring a 9.65 and 9.725, respectively. Oster's stellar routine earned her second place with a 9.75.
> Castrence wrapped up the evening with a 9.85, which ties her career record on the event and secured her the new program all-around record.
All-Around
> Castrence took the top spot in the all-around competition on Saturday night, posting a 39.275 to break Temple's all-around record.

> "The girls showed a lot of grit tonight," said head coach Josh Nilson. "It wasn't the performance we have trained for, but the energy, drive and determination were all there. We have eight days to make a few adjustments and we will come back strong against West Virginia. I'm very proud of these ladies."
