Gymnastics Hosts Ken Anderson Invitational Friday Night

PHILADELPHIA—The Cherry and White will compete in McGonigle for the second time this season on Friday, Jan. 31 as they host Bridgeport and Ursinus for the Ken Anderson Invitational. The competition is set to begin at 7 p.m. and the first 30 fans in the door will receive a Temple gymnastics class of 2022 mini poster.
The Owls
> The Owls are led by head coach Josh Nilson, who is in his second season leading the Cherry and White.
> Last time out, Temple took on West Virginia and New Hampshire on Sunday afternoon, posting a 191.925 in the tri-meet matchup. Sophomore Ariana Castrence tied for the event title on vault and the Owls scored season-highs on beam and floor. The Cherry and White took third behind host West Virginia, 196.025, and New Hampshire, 195.125.
> The Owls had their best performance of the night on floor, posting a season-high with a 48.900. Sophomore Taylor Newland led off the Owls with a strong 9.725, tying her career high. Sophomore Jordyn Oster and senior Jaylene Everett carried on the momentum, each putting on stellar performances to earn a 9.75 and 9.775, respectively. Junior Faith Leary competed on floor for the first time in Cherry and White, posting a 9.8 in her debut. Fellow junior Tori Edwards was outstanding as well, scoring a 9.725. Garin anchored the Owls in stellar fashion, setting a new career high with a 9.85.
> Castrence and Leary both hold spots atop the ECAC individual rankings. They share the first-place position on floor and Castrence is first on vault, tied for first on beam and first in the all-around.
Scouting Bridgeport
> Last time out, Bridgeport faced Brown and RIC on Sunday, posting a season-high 193.750 to take first in the tri-meet.
> The team posted a 48.625 on vault, 47.9 on bars, 48.65 on beam and 48.575 on floor.
> This will be the 34th meeting between Temple and Bridgeport. The Owls hold the advantage in the all-time series, 20-13.
Scouting Ursinus
> Ursinus hosted West Chester and Ithaca on Sunday, Jan. 26. The Bears scored a 183.45, taking second in the tri-meet behind West Chester.
> The squad scored a 46.475 on vault, 45.875 on bars, 45.05 on beam and 46.05on floor.
> The Cherry and White a strong advantage in the all-time series against the Ursinus, leading 55-3.
