Hall of Famer Marc Jackson Teams with Kevin Copp for ESPN+ Temple Home Telecasts
12.19.20 | Men's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA – Marc Jackson, who starred at Temple for two seasons (1995-97) before a 13-year professional basketball career, will team with Kevin Copp for the Owls' men's basketball home ESPN+ telecasts. The two veteran broadcasters will be on the call for Temple's season opener against NJIT this afternoon – the first of five ESPN+ telecasts from the Liacouras Center for the 2020-21 season.
Jackson, who scored 1,001 points for Temple, led the Owls in scoring and rebounding both seasons, earning 1997 Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Year. A second-round selection by Golden State in the 1997 NBA Draft, he chose to begin his professional career overseas before joining the Warriors in 2000. The Philadelphia native earned NBA all-Rookie team honors in his first season (2000-01) and went on to play six more seasons, including two with the Philadelphia 76ers (2003-05), compiling 3,238 points and 1,655 rebounds.
Following his playing career, he embarked on a broadcast career in 2010 when he was named to Comcast SportsNet pre and post-game Sixers shows. He continues in that role, now with NBC Sports Philadelphia, but has also served as a college basketball color analyst for CBS Sports as well as one season (2018-19) filling in for John Baum as an analyst on Temple's men's basketball radio broadcasts.
Since 2015, Copp has served as the primary play-by-play voice for Temple's Olympic sports broadcasts. He has also appeared on the SEC Network, Big Ten Network and NBC Sports Philadelphia, in addition to calling games for the BIG EAST, Ivy League, and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
