Gymnastics Heads to Penn's Pink Meet Sunday

PHILADELPHIA—The Cherry and White are looking to build on last week's season-best performance as they head across town to Penn to take on the Quakers in their Pink Meet. The competition is set to begin at 1 p.m. in the Palestra.
The Owls
> The Owls are led by head coach Josh Nilson, who is in his second season leading the Cherry and White.
> Last time out, Temple defended its home gym on Friday, Jan. 31, posting a season-high 195.000. This score was the fifth-highest in program history to take first place in the Ken Anderson Invitational against Bridgeport (194.175) and Ursinus (187.200). The Cherry and White were strong across the board, scoring numerous career-highs and posting season-high team scores on vault and beam.
> Temple was outstanding on beam in the Ken Anderson Invitational, scoring a 49.1. This is a season-high and the second-highest beam score in program history. Junior Jordyn Oster led off the lineup with a season-high 9.75. Freshman Madi Brooks was up next for the Owls, tying her career-high with a 9.775. Estrella earned a season-high 9.8 for her strong routine and sophomore Ariana Castrence and junior Delaney Garin both set career-highs on beam. Castrence took second place with a 9.875 and Garin took the event title with a 9.9.
> Castrence and junior Faith Leary both hold spots atop the ECAC individual rankings. Leary owns the top position on both vault and floor. Castrence is second on vault and first on beam and all-around.
> Two Owls garnered ECAC honors for their standout performances last week. Garin was named the ECAC Gymnast of the Week and Leary earned Coaches Choice honors.
Scouting Penn
> Penn is led by head coach John Ceralde, who is in his 14th season at the helm of the Quakers.
> Last Sunday, Penn defeated ECAC opponent Cornell in Ithaca, 192.400-187.950. The team posted a 47.55 on vault, 48.45 on bars, 48.15 on beam and 48.35 on floor.
> This will be the 101st meeting between Temple and Penn. The Owls hold the advantage in the all-time series against the Quakers, 56-44. The teams last met at the 2019 ECAC Championships, where Temple took the conference crown with a 194.750 and Penn took third with a 193.925.
