Gymnastics to Celebrate Senior Day Sunday Afternoon

PHILADELPHIA—Temple gymnastics will close out its regular season home slate on Sunday afternoon as it hosts Ursinus for Senior Day. The Cherry and White will be honoring its three seniors, Jazmyn Estrella, Jaylene Everett and Daisy Todd, for their invaluable contributions to the team in their careers as Owls. The meet is slated to start at 4 p.m. and the first 30 fans in the door will receive a Temple gymnastics class of 2020 mini poster.

The Owls
> The Owls are led by head coach Josh Nilson, who is in his second season leading the Cherry and White.
> Last time out, Temple opened up its two-meet weekend with Alumni Night on Friday evening, posting a 193.975 to take second place in the closely contested meet. Penn narrowly took the top spot with a 194.000, while West Chester took third with a 192.000 and Bowling Green was fourth with a 188.700.
> Floor was the Cherry and White's strongest event of the night, as they posted their second-best score of the season with a 48.875. Juniors Tori Edwards and Jordyn Oster's high-powered performances earned them a 9.725 and 9.75, respectively. Sophomores Ariana Castrence and Taylor Newland were key contributors for the Owls on floor. Castrence scored a 9.775 on the event. Newland had the best performance of her career, leading the lineup with a huge 9.8. Everett dazzled her way to a share of second place on floor with a season-high 9.825.
> Temple leads the ECAC with an NQS of 194.155. Yale is its closest competition, as the Bulldogs own an NQS of 193.605. Several Owls are ranked in the top three in the ECAC. Castrence holds the top spot in the ECAC on vault, bars, floor and in the all-around. The sophomore is also third on beam. Junior captain Delaney Garin ranks second on beam and Oster is third on floor.
> Castrence was named the ECAC Gymnast of the Week for the third time this season following her standout performance at the Terrapin Invitational.
 
Scouting Ursinus
> Ursinus is led by head coach Kim Valenti, who is in her second season leading the Bears.
> Last time out, Ursinus competed at Kent State's quad meet on Friday, Feb. 28, placing third with a 188.125.
> The squad earned a 47.225 on vault, 46.075 on bars, 47.625 on beam and 47.2 on floor.
 
Familiar Faces
> The Cherry and White will face former standout Temple gymnast India Anderson and former assistant coach Kim Valenti on Friday night. Anderson is now an assistant coach at Ursinus while Valenti is at the helm of the program.
