Temple Gymnastics Wraps Up Opening Meet of 2026 Season

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Temple University Gymnastics finished with a 191.350 and a second-place finish in the opening meet of 2026 at Rutgers.

ROTATION ONE (BARS: 47.950)
  • Senior Reese DeHaan set the tone from the jump for Temple and tied a career-high score on bars posting a 9.775.
  • Freshman Ava Sutphen showed no nerves in her first ever collegiate event. She scored a 9.800 on her routine to start the season.
  • Returning to Temple for her sophomore season, Robyn Dunne picked up where she left off. Today's bars routine resulted in a 9.825 and a new career-high on the event for Dunne. This score was the top one posted by an Owl on bars in the meet.
  • Both Dunne and Sutphen finished within the top-three of performers in the meet on bars. Dunne finished tied for first-place and Sutphen sat in third place.
 
ROTATION TWO (BEAM: 46.575)
  • Today's balance beam lineup featured four Owls making their debut on the event. Hailey Best and Nikki Rengifo return for their junior and sophomore seasons, respectively, but competing on beam for the first time.
  • Ella Beck and Brooklyn Thomas, both freshmen, notched their first collegiate event on the beam.
  • Dunne, once again, shined for the Owls in the meet, this time coming on the beam. She posted a team-high 9.700.
  • With her score of 9.700, Dunne also finished in fourth-place overall on the beam in the meet.
 
ROTATION THREE (FLOOR: 48.525)
  • Four Owls from last year's squad remain in this year's floor rotation in Mariella Brueck, Amelia Budd, Kyrstin Johnson, and Nikki Rengifo.
  • Budd posted a rotation-high for the Owls with a 9.775. This score also set a career-high for the junior in this event.
  • Johnson, Rengifo, and Thomas all posted solid scored of 9.725, 9.750, and 9.725, respectively.
 
ROTATION FOUR (VAULT: 48.275)
  • The vault lineup for the opening meet of 2026 found familiar faces from last season competing.
  • Amelia Budd notched the team's highest score on the event with a 9.725.
  • Freshmen Brooklyn Thomas and Jade Harden each posted strong scores for their first time competing on the apparatus at the collegiate level. Thomas finished with a 9.675 and Harden a 9.650.
 
UP NEXT
The Owls will remain on the road in the second meet of the season as the team will travel to Gainesville, Fla. The Florida Gators of the SEC will host Temple, North Carolina, and West Virginia on Friday, Jan. 9 at 6:45 pm. The meet will be streamed on SEC Network+.
