Golf Tied for 11th After First Day at Visit Stockton Invitational

Stockton, Calif. – Conor McGrath shot a three-under par 68 to lead Temple Golf at the first of three days at the 15-team Visit Stockton Invitational Thursday. As a team, the Owls were six over on the day and are tied with UC Irvine for 11th overall.
Recapping Day One
> McGrath started his round with four straight birdies and added two more on holes seven and eight to make the turn at six under. The Owl standout proved human on the back nine, making three bogeys to close the round with his eighth sub-70 round and tied for 11th overall.
> Graham Chase and Buddy Hansen, who was making his first start of the season, were next for Temple and tied for 52nd overall with two-over 73s. Chase played a consistent round with 15 pars. He birdied the par four seventh, but then gave that back with a double bogey on the eighth. His other blemish was a bogey on the 11th. Hansen birdied the first hole, but the played the next 13 at five over with three bogeys and one double bogey. He closed strong, however, with birdies on the 15th and 17th.
> Ethan Whitney rounded out the Owls scorers with a five-over 76 with Dawson Anders rounding out the Temple squad with a nine-over 80.
The Field
> Washington State leads the field with a 16-under 268. The Cougars are two shots better than BYU (270) and four shots ahead of third place St. Mary's.
> WSU's Pono Yanagi and St. Mary's Kristian Bressum lead the 90-player field with six-under 65s.
