Field Hockey to Close Out Regular Season in Philly

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple field hockey team will close out the regular season in the City of Brotherly Love, hosting UConn in its final BIG EAST game of the year and heading to Penn for the regular finale. The Owls are in the hunt to qualify for the BIG EAST Tournament, and either a win over the Huskies or a Georgetown loss will clinch the team's berth.

Scouting Temple
> The Owls are 7-9 (3-3 BIG EAST) and on a five-game slump.
> Temple is fourth in the league standings, with Liberty at the top and Old Dominion tied for second place with UConn.
> The Cherry and White is 2-6 at Howarth Field, with four losses coming against top-25 programs. The team has fared better on the road, going 5-3 and recording three of its
five shutouts.
> The Temple offense has spread the love, with eight Owls scoring so far this season. Julianne Kopec leads the team with five while Grace Angelella, McKenna Burkhardt, Kerrie Lorenz, and Tess Muller round out the multiple goal scorers with two.
> Graduate transfer Megan Ragusa is a force in the cage, recording 48 of the team's 54 saves and posting five clean sheets to rank second in the conference. Ragusa has allowed 24 goals for a 0.667 save percentage and entered the weekend 27th in the nation with a 1.57 GAA.
> The last time the Owls defeated a ranked team was in 2016 when the team topped No. 13 ODU 2-1 in overtime at Howarth Field.

Scouting UConn
> The Huskies are 9-9 (5-1 BIG EAST) and tied for Old Dominion for second-place in the conference standings.
> The team dropped its last game, falling to 1-2 No. 20 UMass in double overtime last weekend.
> All of UConn's losses have come to ranked opponents and the team has topped three top-25 teams.
> The Huskies have outscored their opponents 37-29, with Sophia Ugo's eight goals leading the team.
> Cheyenne Sprecher leads the team's defensive effort in the cage, recording 94 saves for a 1.50 GAA and a 0.770 save percentage.

> This will be the 19th meeting between the teams, with UConn holding a 15-2-1 series advantage.
> The Owls are on a 14-game losing streak against the Huskies, with Temple's last victory in the series coming in a 5-1 decision in 1989.
