Battle Named AAC Player of the Week

11.29.21 | Men's Basketball

PHILADELPHIA - Temple men's basketball guard Khalif Battle has been named the AAC Player of the Week, as announced by the league Monday afternoon. This is the second conference nod for the sophomore this season. Battle was also named to the Big 5 Weekly Honor Roll.

The Hillside, N.J. native scored 29 points, including 20 in the second half, to propel Temple to a 75-74 win over visiting Delaware Saturday night. The Owls overcame an 11-point second-half deficit for the win. Battle made 10-of-18 from field, 2-of-3 from long, 7-of-8 from the free throw line, grabbed four rebounds and an assist.

He leads the American Athletic Conference in scoring (21.33 ppg) and is looking to become the first Temple player to average 20 or more points since Khalif Wyatt (20.5 ppg) in 2012-13. Battle has scored 20 or more points in four of six games this season and eight of 17 games in his Temple career.

The Owls return to the court for a pair of Big 5 games this week, hosting La Salle on Dec. 1 and Penn on Dec. 4.
