Women’s Track & Field Heads to Houston for #HTownSpeedCity Series

PHILADELPHIA – After two weeks of diligent training, the Temple track and field team will return to Houston, Texas for the final meet of the #HTownSpeedCity Series on Saturday, Feb. 13.
About the #HTownSpeedCity Series
> The third and final meet of the #HTownSpeedCity Series is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13 at Yeomen Fieldhouse in Houston, Texas.
> The Owls are set to face Houston, UCF, USF, SMU, Cincinnati and Stephen F. Austin.
> Aisha Brown will get the day started for Temple as she competes in the high jump at 11 a.m.
> The running events will begin at 2:30 p.m., starting with the semifinals for both the 60m and the 60m hurdles.
> The finals start with the mile followed by the 400m, 60m hurdles, 60m, 800m, 200m, 3000m, DMR and 4x400m relay. The projected end time for the meet is 5 p.m.

> Temple competed at the #HTownSpeedCity Series II meet on Jan. 29 to open their 2020-21 season.
> Marissa White was the first Owl to cross the finish line in the 200m with a time of 25.38, less than a second behind her personal best.
> Mary Olayinka Ilelaboye ran a personal-best 25.62 in the 200m as she competed at her first meet for TU.
> Ilelaboye also had a good showing in the 400m, leading the Owls as she clocked in at 58.28.
> Graduate student Alanna Lally was the first to cross the finish line in the 800m, earning 10 points for the Owls. Rookie Léa Kerbiriou followed closely for a second-place finish in her first meet for the Cherry and White. Sophia Gullotti finished just outside the top eight in the event as she finished at 2:32.72.
> The quartet of Ilelaboye, Mallorie Smith, Lally and White represented Temple in the 4x400m relay. The squad earned a fourth-place finish with a time of 3:49.79.
> Gullotti recorded the top time for Temple in the 60m dash prelims with her mark of 9.50.
> Tannekee Strachan led the Cherry and White in both the long jump and triple jump with her marks of 5.07m and 11.48, respectively.
> Senior Aisha Brown took bronze in the high jump with her mark of 1.70m to earn the Owls six points.
> In her first collegiate field event, freshman Nicole Castor cleared the bar at 1.55m in the high jump to finish just shy of a point-scoring position.
AAC Top-10
> Leading the American Athletic Conference in the 800m is Lally with her mark of 2:10.55. Rookie Kerbiriou follows close behind with the conference's third-best time of 2:11.14.
> The Owls' 4x400m relay squad of Ilelaboye, Smith, Lally and White hold the AAC's fourth-best time of 3:49.79.
> Brown is currently tied for second in the conference with her 1.70m mark in the high jump.
> In the triple jump, Strachan's mark of 11.48m places her at 10th in the AAC.
