Women’s Track & Field Opens 2021 Outdoor Season at UCF

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple track and field team heads to Orlando, Fla. to compete in their first outdoor meet since 2019. The Owls will compete in the UCF Black & Gold Invitational on Friday, Mar. 19 and Saturday, Mar. 20.
About the UCF Black & Gold Invitational
> The Owls first outdoor meet of the 2021 season will be held at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex.
> Temple will compete against Jacksonville, Mercer, Northeastern, North Florida, Rhode Island, Stetson, Tennessee State, Tulane and UCF.
> Tannekee Strachan, Sophia Gulotti and Nicole Castor will open the meet in the long jump, followed by Castor and Aisha Brown in the high jump to complete Friday's field events.
> The first running event for the Owls will start at 6:50 p.m. with Marissa White, Mallorie Smith, Lauren Greig, Chidumga Nkulume, Mary Olayinka Ilelaboye and Jewel Ofotan competing in the 200m.
> Friday will wrap up with Emma Gee making her debut in the Cherry and White in the 1500m.
> Strachan will open Saturday's events for Temple in the triple jump at 11 a.m., while the quartet of Nkulume, Greig, Ofotan and Chelby Elam will race in the 4x100 relay at the same time.
> The 3000m will then take place at 11:10 a.m. followed by the 100-meter hurdles, 400m, 100m, 800m and 4x400 relay.
Last Time Out
> The quartet of Helene Gottlieb, Lea Kerbiriou, Alanna Lally and Marissa White competed in the DMR event at the Camel City Invitational on Feb. 20, where they finished sixth with a time of 11:24.55. This mark places the DMR squad at 16th in the country.
> In the 800m Elite Finals, Lally had the best indoor performance of the season as she crossed the finish line at 2:05.88 for third-place. She was the top collegian in the event as she finished behind two professional runners. Lally's time places her at 12th nationally.
> Both Kerbiriou and Gottlieb raced in the 800m Finals Section 1 event, finishing third and fourth, respectively.
