Davis Named USBWA All-American for Second-Straight Season

PHILADELPHIA — Temple women's basketball senior Mia Davis has been named an All-American for the second-straight season. The forward earned the honorable mention recognition by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, as announced by the organization Friday afternoon.Â
Davis is just the fifth All-American in Temple women's basketball history and the second player to earn All-American status twice in her career as she also earned the honorable mention recognition by USBWA last season. Former Temple standout and current WNBA All-Star Candice Dupree earned both honorable mention (2005) and Third Team All-American (2006) by the Associated Press during her time on Broad Street.Â

Davis, a native of Baltimore, Md., caps off her senior year in the Cherry and White as an All-American, a Top 10 Finalist for the Cheryl Miller Award and a First Team All-American Athletic Conference honoree. Davis led the Owls and finished second in the AAC with 17.7 points per game while leading Temple with 7.6 rebounds each outing. The senior scored in double digits in 19 games and hit the 20+ points mark eight times, including a career-best 34 points at FGCU. Davis is Temple's all-time leader in made free throws with her current career total of 412. Davis has etched herself into Temple women's basketball history as she sits at third in both made field goals (685) and career rebounds (961) and fourth in career points (1,849).
The 2020-21 Temple women's basketball team ended the season with an overall record of 11-11 (11-7 AAC) to finish fifth in the American.Â
