Women's Basketball Faces Off Against AAC Leader UCF on Monday

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's basketball team completes its quick road trip when they travel to Orlando, Fla. to take on the UCF Knights on Monday, Jan. 31 at 3:00pm on ESPN+.

LAST GAME
> Temple dropped their second conference game of the season to the Memphis Tigers, 64-61. 
> A big second quarter for the Tigers saw them take a double-digit lead before the Owls were able to claw back to take the lead late in the fourth quarter. However, two three-point shots from Memphis turned the tide to give the Tigers the win.
> Mia Davis: 24 points and 11 rebounds
> Aniya Gourdine: 10 points, six assists, four rebounds
> Tiarra East: nine points, 10 rebounds

THE OWLS
> The Owls enter Monday's game coming off a narrow loss at the hands of the Memphis Tigers, 64-61.
> Davis leads the conference in points per game, minutes per game, and field goal percentage this season. Davis has been playing some of her best basketball of the season in conference play, averaging 21.6 points per game.
> East made her first career start for the Owls against the Tigers and did not disappoint. East scored nine rebounds and grabbed 10 rebounds for a near double-double.
> Gourdine comes into Saturday's game as the AAC freshman of the week for the third time this season. Against USF, Gourdine nearly recorded a triple-double, scoring 12 points, dishing out 10 assists and grabbing eight rebounds.

SCOUTING UCF
> The Knights come into this game as the league leaders in the American Athletic Conference having won six of their first seven games in AAC play.
> UCF is led by senior guard Diamond Battles who enters the contest leading the Knights in scoring and assists. Battles also shoots more than 40% from three-point land.
> Guard Tay Sanders leads the backcourt with Battles for UCF. Sanders averages 11.6 points per game while collecting 4.1 rebounds per contest.

LAST TIME THEY MET
> The last time that these two teams met, Davis became Temple's all-time leader in free throws made, but the Owls fell by a score of 61-37.
> The Owls recorded a field goal percentage of 22.2 (12-54) for their worst mark of the season. 
> Temple shot just 52.9% (9-17) from the foul line and 28.6% (4-14) from three-point range. 
> UCF out-rebounded the Owls 47-34, including 15 offensive boards that led to 20 second-chance points. 
> The Knights ended the game shooting 39% from the floor, 33.3% from long range and 64.7% from the charity stripe. 
> Temple's 37 points marks the lowest-scoring game for the Owls since Jan. 11, 2014 when they fell 80-36 at #1 UConn. 
> Freshman Jasha Clinton led Temple with 10 points, followed by Davis with eight and junior Alexa Williamson with seven. 
> Senior Emani Mayo led the Owls on the boards with seven rebounds while Williamson collected six.

UP NEXT
> The Owls return home for the first game of a three-game home stretch when they take on the Wichita State Shockers on Feb. 2 at 7:00pm in McGonigle Hall.
> The game is scheduled to air on ESPN+.
