Spirit Squad Set to Compete in National Championship

1.7.22 | Cheerleading, Diamond Gems

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple spirit squad, comprised of the Diamond Gems dance team and cheerleading squad is set to compete in the 2022 College Cheerleading and Dance National Championship next weekend, from Jan. 14-16. The nationally recognized competition will be hosted by the Walt Disney World Resort at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.

In advance of next week's competition, the team will be hosting a send-off this Saturday, Jan. 8 at 6 p.m. in McGonigle Hall. Both the Diamond Gems dance team and the cheerleading squad will perform their routine prior to send off and encourage friends, family, student-athletes, coaches, and staff to support them before they begin their National Championship endeavor.

Last year, the Temple cheerleaders won the program's first ever National Championship, clinching the All-Girl Division IA Game Day event title while the Diamond Gems placed fourth on the national stage in the Division IA Hip Hop category.
