Women’s Soccer to Host East Carolina for Senior Day Sunday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's soccer (1-9-4, 0-6-0 AAC) is set to host East Carolina (7-7-2, 2-3-1 AAC) on Sunday afternoon in their final home game of the season at the Temple Sports Complex. The match will serve as senior day for the Owls, where Temple will honor seven student-athletes in Milana D'Ambra, Katie Coritz, Teri Jackson, Emily Kavanaugh, Zoe Zaharakis, Kamryn Stablein and Gabi Johnson.

History
The matchup between the Owls and the Pirates serves as the ninth time the teams have met in program history with an all-time record of 3-3-2. The teams last meeting came in 2021 where East Carolina defeated Temple, 2-1 at Johnson Stadium on Oct. 7.
The Owls
- Kyla Burns has headlined the Owls efforts in their last two matches, totaling 20 saves to advance to 86 on the year. After grabbing 9 saves against Memphis on Oct. 16, Burns was awarded AAC Weekly Honor Roll recognition for her efforts, her third weekly conference award of the season.
- Temple is led by Katie Coritz and Carly Steinberg in the goal category, each netting two apiece on the year for a team-high four points. Both Steinberg and Coritz found success in the 5-0 win over LIU, with Coritz recording a brace. Steinberg added her second of the year against Cincinnati, converting in the 60th minute off a corner sent into the box.
- In addition to Steinberg and Coritz, Emily Kavanaugh and Roisin McGovern have found the back of the net for the Owls, each securing one goal on the year while Kavanaugh has added an assist.
- Phoebe Hollin has been a driving force in the Owls goal scoring efforts, dishing out three assists, all of which came on the corner to lead the team in the helper category and tie for fifth in assists in the American as of Oct. 18.
Scouting the Pirates
- East Carolina enters the matchup with a 7-7-2 record (2-3-1 AAC), currently on a three-game losing streak, each of which came to conference opponents in South Florida, Memphis and UCF. The Pirates found conference wins over SMU and Houston in their first two conference competitions of the year.
- The Pirates are led by graduate student Carsen Parker, who has netted four goals and added an assist for a team-high nine points. Sydney Schnell and Lindsey Aiken have been kick starters for the Pirate offense this year, each dishing out three helpers to act as the team assist leaders.
- East Carolina has looked to junior Maeve English in goal, who has started all 16 games this season to record 44 saves for a .733 save percentage.
- The Pirates are under new guidance this year, as Gary Higgins joined the staff as the programs fifth head coach in March 2022. Higgins previously coached at his alma matter, Lenior-Rhyne since 2015. In his seven-year stint, he became the programs all-time winningest coach with a record of 83-31-13.
