Muller, Oerlemans Named All-Conference First Team; Burkhardt Named Second Team

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Three Temple field hockey players have earned All-Conference honors, as announced by the BIG EAST Thursday morning. Tess Muller and Nienke Oerlemans have been named to the First Team while McKenna Burkhardt has been named to the Second Team.
Muller leads the team in points with 21, tying for eighth in the conference, recording six goals and nine assists to tie for sixth in the league. She posted the game-winner against Drexel in the 3-2 overtime victory in October. The Naarden, Netherlands native also leads the team in shots, firing 31 with 18 on target. She saw a season-high four shots against Old Dominion and a career-high three assists at Bucknell.
Oerlemans has scored four goals on the season, two of which were game-winners. She has five assists on the season, taking the majority of the team's penalty corner inserts. The Apeldoorn, Netherlands native has made three of Temple's five defensive saves, tying for third in the BIG EAST. She has fired nine shots with six on target, attempting a season-high against Georgetown.
Burkhardt is the team's leading goal scorer, posting eight to tie for eighth in the league. She ranks second on the team with 23 shots, putting 16 on frame. The Bethlehem, Pa. native posted a defensive save in the 6-3 comeback win against Quinnipiac, tying for fifth in the BIG EAST. She recorded the assist on the game-winner over Georgetown.
The Owls will open postseason play at the BIG EAST Tournament, facing the No. 1 seed Old Dominion in the semifinals on Nov. 4 at 1 p.m.
