No. 24 Field Hockey Set for Conference Tournament

PHILADELPHIA - The No. 24 Temple field hockey team will face No. 13 Old Dominion in the semifinals round of the BIG EAST Tournament Friday afternoon. The No. 4 seeded Owls have advanced to postseason play for the third-straight year and are looking to reach the title game for the first time since 2015. The winner of the matchup will face either No. 14 UConn or No. 19 Liberty in the tournament finals.

SCOUTING TEMPLE
> The Owls topped #13 UConn 3-2 Friday afternoon to clinch a BIG EAST Tournament for the third-straight year. The win was the team's second-straight over the Huskies, the first time this has happened since the 1988 and 1989 seasons. 
> The team re-entered the NFHCA rankings following the conclusion of the regular season, coming in at No. 24. Temple was ranked No. 24 earlier in the season before dropping out after falling to Villanova and Penn.
> The Cherry and White holds an RPI of 21 entering the postseason. Temple was as high as No. 20 in the RPI rankings this season, dropping several spots after losses to Villanova and Penn.
> Three Owls eanred All-Conference honors, with Tess Muller and Nienke Oerlemans being named to the First Team and McKenna Burkhardt being named to the Second Team.
> Temple has outscored its opponents 45-21, one shy of double last season's goals scored (21). The Cherry and White has scored 5+ goals four times this season.
> 15 Owls have scored so far, with McKenna Burkhardt's eight leading the team.
> Molly Frey has been a force in goal, posting 51 of the team's 56 saves. She enters the weekend with a 0.708 save percentage and a 1.12 GAA to rank 13th in the NCAA. Her win-loss percentage (0.722) is 14th.

SCOUTING OLD DOMINION
> #13 Old Dominion clinched a share of the BIG EAST Regular Season Title last weekend, defeating #19 Liberty in a shootout to be named Co-Champions with the Flames.
> The Monarchs are 14-2 (6-1 BIG EAST) and on a nine-game winning streak, last losing to #11 UConn in double overtime in September.
> The team leads the nation in GAA (0.77), allowing just 13 goals this season, and is second in scoring margin (2.48).
> Goalie Cam MacGillivray leads the NCAA in save percentage (0.851) and is second in GAA (0.80).

SERIES HISTORY
> This will be the 33rd meeting between the teams, with Old Dominion holding a wide 27-4-1 series advantage.
> The Owls are on a seven-game losing streak, last topping the Monarchs 2-1 in overtime at home in 2016.
> The regular season matchup saw the Monarchs top Temple 2-0 at Howarth Field.
