Wei and Uchijima Advance to Quarterfinals of ITA Fall National Championship

SAN DEIGO – The Temple women's tennis duo of Jamie Wei and Maiko Uchijima earned their second straight win at the prestigious ITA Fall National Championship Tournament on Thursday afternoon. The Owls downed Cristina Tiglea and Metka Komac of Texas Tech to secure their spot in the quarterfinals.
Wei and Uchijima came out strong, but fell in the first set, 6-3 to the talented Texas Tech duo. The Owls fought hard, earning the 6-4 come-from-behind win in set two to advance to a tiebreak. The pair turned on the jets, downing their opponent 10-2, ultimately winning the round of 16 and securing their place in the quarterfinals. This victory serves as their tenth straight win as a doubles team throughout the course of competition in the ITA Regional, Super Regional and National Tournament.
